Rangers Take Commanding 3-0 Series Lead Against Capitals
Rangers Win Game 3, 3-1
The New York Rangers took a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Washington Capitals with a 3-1 victory in Game 3 on Saturday night.
The Rangers got off to a slow start, as John Carlson gave the Capitals an early 1-0 lead with a wrist shot past Igor Shesterkin. However, the Rangers responded with three unanswered goals from Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider.
Shesterkin made 30 saves for the Rangers, while Darcy Kuemper stopped 22 shots for the Capitals.
Capitals' Struggles Continue
The Capitals have now lost three straight games in the series, and their minus-37 goal differential in the regular season continues to be a major concern.
The Capitals will need to find a way to generate more offense and tighten up their defense if they want to avoid a sweep in the series.
Rangers Have the Advantage
The Rangers have the advantage in the series, and they will look to close it out in Game 4 on Monday night.
The Rangers are 12-4 SU in their last 16 games when playing at home, and the Capitals are 1-5 SU in their last six games when playing on the road.
The Rangers will be looking to continue their strong play at home and take a 3-1 lead in the series.
